FABRIC PRINTING

This weeks big project was to print a 2 lengths of fabrics which will be applied to furniture by interior designers and upholsters Fiona and Michael at Feather Your Nest, based in the seaside town of Elie. The fabrics are locally sourced linen and dark wool manufactured in the UK.

The first layer is printed...

Once the first layer has been printed the second colour with detail is added...

Et voila! The final product!

AT MY DESK TODAY...

Reviewing colourways.

AT THE STUDIO

Last week there was a visitor to the studio...

Kirstie Allsop came to film for a new show at the Lynsey Jean Henderson Print Studio (where I hire my space from). It was rather surreal to see how these programmes are made. They were filming the lovely print designer Zoe Murphy for a house they are working on in Joppa.

Lynsey has space available a the studio to rent on a monthly basis or to hire use of the equipment daily i.e. a 10 metre print table, massive exposure unit, light box wash bay etc. If you are interested in hiring a space have a look at her BLOG for contact details and more information about the facilities.

WALLPAPER PRINTING

This week I have been getting final samples and lengths of wallpaper ready for the Pittenweem Arts Festival (the deadline for which is drawing ever nearer, eeeeek!)

Here's a few images of the printing process once you have your image onto screen. The images show the designs for 'Baroque Rose' and 'Seaweed Drift'.

Once the wallpaper has been coloured by hand I screen print the first layer of the design...
The second layer with detail is added next...

Close up...

Print run off from the wallpaper to the table...this gives me an idea for a future project ;)
